Employee Health and Safety A Cornerstone for Better Organizations
Workplace safety investments pay off big time. The National Safety Council estimates that for every dollar an organization invests in workplace safety initiatives, 6 dollars are returned on investment, thanks to direct reductions in accident-related costs and indirect gains in retention. Moreover, "when employees perceive their work environment as safe, the employees are more satisfied with their jobs, which in turn leads to greater loyalty and commitment to the organization" (Griffin & Neal, 2000).
It is always significant that organizations pursue comprehensive training and adhere to all prescribed guidelines concerning safety to develop a good safety culture. The organization of discussions on employee safety motivates the staff to be responsible for a safe working environment. They will also be more observant about risks, enabling them to handle risks effectively. The approach will ensure a low level of accidents as well as highly confident personnel with a belonging and responsible feeling.
Essentially, investing in the health and safety of employees is much more than a regulatory requirement; it is absolutely a strategic imperative. Those who can value the key asset of a healthy workforce will have the best prospects for long-term success and sustainability within the ebbs and flows of modern business.
